Troubleshooting

If DesignaKnit says the port is not available, it usually means that the port number entered in DesignaKnit’s Knitting Machine Setup either doesn’t exist or is allocated to another device. It could also mean that you have a Mac computer that has an M1 or M2 ARM processor, in which case you will need to download the ARM driver from here.

DesignaKnit 8 and 9 are able to search automatically for the port number to use for the following cables. Note that some of these are serial cables: the search can be done for these cables regardless of whether they are being used with a USB to serial converter.

   SilverLink 2, 4, or 5

   USB SilverLink 3

   USB BrotherLink 1, 3, or 5

   Serial BrotherLink 2, 4, or 5

   USB E6000Link 1 or 2

   Serial E6000Link 2

   Serial E8000Link 1 or 2

   USB or serial ScreenLink

They are not able to search for the following group of cables, regardless of whether they are being used with a USB to serial converter.

   Serial SilverLink 3

   Serial BrotherLink 1 or 3

   Serial E6000Link 1

Please select one of these:-

My cable is on the first list   (Use Find Link)

My cable is on the second list   (Use Device Manager)

My cable is not on either list

If you are using a serial link with a USB to Serial Converter, also see here
